11.08.2015: One of the twelve venues for the upcoming 2018 World Cup, held in Russia, is the Kazan Arena, a stadium with a capacity of 45,000. Its construction began in 2010 and took three years, which was longer than expected. Apart from this the construction also exceeded the originally proposed budget. On the site there is also a museum of Rubin Kazan, a shopping and health centre, nowadays quite a usual facility. The former Centralnyj stadion, was used from 1960 until the club moved to the new stadium, which was in 2014.

The stadium was built to provide a venue for the 2012 Summer Olympics, with a capacity of 80,000 seats. It was designed so that once the Olympics were over, it could be rebuilt to suit the needs of West Ham United, a Premier League club. To this end, the capacity was decreased and the stands were moved closer to the pitch, through the former athletics track.

20.07.2015: Allianz Arena, the home ground of Bayern Munich and TSV Munich 1860, a club currently playing in the second Bundesliga, may be illuminated in many different colours. This is thanks to 2,760 luminous panels, which cover the stadium façade. They change colours depending on which team are currently playing a home match at the stadium. If you go to Munich and nearing the city, you see the Allianz Arena in the distance, you get the impression that a giant airship is landing there.

22.06.2015: Allianz Group has given its name to another football stadium. Following Allianz Arena in Munich, there is the Allianz Riviera stadium in the French city of Nice. The home ground of OGC Nice was built in 2013, for the purpose of hosting the 2016 European Championship, which will be played at ten stadiums in France. Until 2013 Nice had been playing their Ligue 1 matches at the Stade Municipal du Ray, which could hold up to 17,415 spectators. The capacity of the new Allianz Riviera is twice as large – 35,624 seats.
