Venues for Euro 2016 held in France

02.12.2015: In 2016 the 15th European Championship will be held in twelve French cities. The very first European Championship, taking place in 1960, was held in France as well. France hosted another European Championship in 1984, which means that in 2016 it will become the host country for the third time. So far only two countries hosted Euro twice – Italy (1968, 1980) and Belgium (1972, 2000).

On the occasion, Slavia played an exhibition match against Oxford University A.F.C, which Slavia won 5-0.

A new City Arena opened in Trnava, Slovakia

The newly built stadium has a capacity of 19,200 seats and is thus the largest stadium in Slovakia. The City Arena Trnava was built on the site of the former Anton Malatinsky’s Stadium and is the largest construction ever to be built in Trnava, a Slovak city with a population of 65,000 people. The premises also include office buildings, a shopping mall, a cinema complex and a two-storey underground car park.

Renovation of Udinese stadium about to be completed

That same year the renovation of the main stand began – it is the only stand to retain its original design. The unique feature of the main stand is its arched roof, symbolic of the entire stadium. The old oval-shaped stands with the running track were replaced by new stands, making the stadium football-only.
